All About Dental Implants

Our doctors have over 30 years of combined experience in placing dental implants.   We offer a compassionate environment  where each treatment plan is individually tailored for the patients needs.

Implants are ideal for patients with a missing tooth or teeth, as well as denture-wearers who want to restore the look, feel and function of natural teeth. Regardless of how many teeth a patient is missing, dental implants help them eat and speak with confidence and comfort. Implants also help preserve facial structure, preventing bone deterioration that occurs when teeth are missing.

What are Dental Implants?

Implants are tiny titanium or zirconium posts that are surgically inserted into the jawbone where teeth are missing and act as tooth root substitutes. The bone bonds with the titanium/zirconium, creating a strong foundation for artificial teeth.

Single and Multiple Implants

For most patients, the placement of dental implants involves two surgical procedures.
First, the posts are surgically inserted into the jawbone where teeth are missing. For three to six months following surgery, the implants beneath the surface of the gums gradually bond with the jawbone. You should be able to wear temporary dentures and eat a soft diet during this time.

After the implant has bonded to the jawbone, the second phase begins our doctors will uncover the implants and attach small posts that will act as anchors for the artificial teeth. The entire procedure usually takes six to eight months. Most patients experience minimal disruption in their daily life.

All on 4™ all on f

The All-on-4™ technique is an advanced procedure that provides patients with missing teeth a fast, cost-effective fixed restoration. Four individual implants are placed in one jaw to support a full-arch prosthesis, providing edentulous patients with an affordable, comfortable, pleasing solution.

All-on-4 Implant Technique

The All-on-4 technique is specifically designed to use only four implants that are available for immediate function.  All-on-4 implants do not typically require bone grafting, so they are an ideal solution for patients with areas of low bone density or volume.

Before the procedure begins, you will be comfortably numbed so that you will feel no pain or discomfort during the procedure.  Four dental implants are then placed according to where the bone volume is best.  Once the implants have been placed, the new or existing denture is used as the framework for a temporary set of teeth that will be attached that day.

Once the bone has fully integrated with the implant (3-4 months), the temporary teeth are removed and the new, final set of teeth are made and anchored into place permanently.

Benefits of All-on-4

There are many benefits to the All-on-4 technique, including:

  • Minimal recovery time
  • Lower overall costs when compared to a single implant
  • No need for bone grafting, in most cases
  • Easy oral hygiene and home care
  • Ability to eat and enjoy all foods
  • No more frustrating removable appliances
  • Long-term results
  • Bone level stabilization
  • Greater self-confidence and overall quality of life
  • A brand new smile in just one day!

  • With more traditional approaches, eight to ten implants are required to replace an entire jaw with teeth, and other procedures such as bone grafting and sinus lifts may be necessary. The All-on-4™ techniques eliminates the need for these more invasive and costly techniques.

With our in-office 3-D imaging system we have the capability to see detailed images of a patient’s jaw, allowing us to make an accurate and predictable diagnosis with enhanced treatment planning.

We are proud to offer all dental implant procedures  in each of our 3 office locations, Austin, Bastrop and Lakeway.
